“And he BELIEVED in the LORD; and He COUNTED it to him for RIGHTEOUSNESS.”   (Genesis 15:6)   (Emphasis mine)

“... but the JUST shall LIVE by his FAITH.”   (Habakkuk 2:4)   (Emphasis mine)

 How can fallen, sinful man be counted righteous in the sight of God?  By his good works?  Many people think so.  But they expect very high wages for very sorry work.

In contrast, Abram believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.  “The just shall live by faith.”

“What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?  For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.  Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.  Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”   (Romans 4:1-8)

Out of the sinful, corrupt mass of fallen humanity (the Clay) God (the Potter) has chosen to form some vessels unto honor and some to dishonor.  Those whom God has elected unto eternal life are the same ones for whom Messiah died.  He sealed our pardon with his blood.

The elect, each in their divinely appointed time, are born of the Spirit of God.  This new birth creates in us repentance unto life and saving faith in the Son of God.  Repentance and faith are not the cause, but rather, they are the result of the new birth.

To “JUSTIFY” means to declare “legally righteous” -- as before a court of law.  God counts true believers in Christ as legally righteous -- just as if we had never sinned.  He imputes to (puts to the account of) each believer Christ's active, perfect obedience to the Law of God.

God also imputes Christ's passive obedience (in his death for our sins).  Believers are pardoned and accepted, not for anything we did, but only for Christ's sake.

“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be JUSTIFIED in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by FAITH of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being JUSTIFIED freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through FAITH in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, I say, at this time HIS righteousness: that he might be JUST, and the JUSTIFIER of him which believeth in Jesus.   (Romans 3:20-26)   (Emphasis mine)

Many teach that justification by faith cancels the Law of God.  They argue that since no one is saved by good works (deeds of the Law) that we are under NO obligation to keep the Law.  But the Scripture refutes that:

“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.”   (Romans 3:31)

Believers are not under the curse of the Law.  This is because Christ was made a curse for them.  They are under Grace.  But believers are still obliged to love God and their neighbor.  The Ten Commandments tell us exactly HOW to love God and our neighbor.

Saving faith is a GIFT from God.  He gives it to none but the elect.  We seek to love God by keeping His Commandments (John 14:15).  We are grieved when we fail.  We confess it as sin and seek His forgiveness.  But we DO NOT EARN salvation by keeping the Law.

The cry of the Protestant Reformation, in opposition to the unscriptural, Roman Catholic system of a “good works” salvation, was that “the JUST shall LIVE by FAITH”.  In all false religions, man tries to EARN his salvation.  But in the Bible, salvation is a FREE GIFT.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”   (Romans 6:23)   (Emphasis mine)

“For by grace are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves: it is the GIFT of God: NOT of WORKS, lest any man should boast.”   (Ephesians 2:8,9)   (Emphasis mine)

But real faith WORKS by love.  It produces good works out of love for God and for our neighbor.  The good works are the fruit (proof or evidence) of salvation.  But they are not the cause of it.  They are the result of saving faith in Christ.

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto GOOD WORKS, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”   (Ephesians 2:10)   (Emphasis mine)

There is such a thing as a dead faith -- a faith that has no good works.  For example, the devils believe in God -- and tremble.  They have NO good works, and thus their faith is NOT saving faith.  There is also a vain faith, one that falls away in time of trial or persecution.

Vain faith is an intellectual assent to certain Bible facts and doctrines -- WITHOUT a changed heart.  It, too, produces NO good works.  It is not saving faith.  It can sometimes precede, and lead to, saving faith in God's elect.  But by itself (without new birth) it is an empty faith.

God, from all eternity, decreed to justify all the elect.  In the fullness of time Messiah died for our sins and rose again for our justification.  But none of the elect are justified personally until the Holy Spirit applies Christ to them (in the new birth) through the gift of saving faith.

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.

But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.

And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.  Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through FAITH.”   (Galatians 3:10-14)  (Emphasis mine)

Tulip Gems is a Calvinistic Baptist web site that honors Jesus Christ and provides a free Hyperinflation Survival Guide.  We offer free Bible Articles on several subjects, including Bible Nutrition , Creation Science versus Evolution Passover , The Great Commission and Tulip Calvinism

Which Bible can we trust? Which Bible is the most accurate? Why KJV only? Read our Which Bible series of articles for answers from both Scripture and history (including a Rebuttal of James White's book, The King James Only Controversy).

We also offer a well-documented Vietnam Veteran Story that illustrates the mercy of God.  The Vietnam Veteran Story, found on our Combat Vet page, comes from published accounts of Vietnam Veterans experiences, as well as this Vietnam Veterans experiences, told first hand.

Concerned about inflation leading to hyperinflation? Some say buy silver and gold coins. Others say it is evil to own silver and gold coins. What does the Bible teach us? Tulip Gems offers an Hyperinflation Survival Guide which provides a Biblical basis for ownership of silver and gold coins as an hedge against the horrors of hyperinflation.  Links to online vendors are also provided.

Will out of control government spending lead to hyperinflation, and possibly to a new world currency? Will a new world currency lead to the Mark of the Beast (666)? Will the Rapture occur before the Tribulation (Pre-Tribulational Rapture) or will the Rapture occur after the Tribulation (Post-Tribulational Rapture)? For Biblical answers, visit our
Mark of the Beast Explained page.

Will America come under nuclear attack? What does the Bible say? For reliable information on what to do in a nuclear attack, read our
Survive Nuclear Attack page. While many Calvinists shy away from Bible prophecy, we don't. For those who want Biblical guidance about the future, check out our Hyperinflation Survival Guide, Mark of the Beast Explained and Survive Nuclear Attack pages. Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke often about the events leading up to His Second Coming. Where our Good Shepherd leads, we may safely follow.

Who is Jesus Christ? Why KJV only? Why Home School your children? Jesus Christ is Lord and the KJV Bible is the Preserved Word of God in English.  Finally, Scripture gives us compelling reasons to Home School our children. One very important reason is to lead them to Our Passover Lamb. We recommend Christ-centered Home Schooling Curriculum.
