“Thou shalt not kill.”   (Exodus 20:13)

“If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman's husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.

And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life....”   (Exodus 21:22-23)

In the passage above, God places a protective legal hedge around a pregnant woman (woman with child).   In a fight between men, a pregnant woman might be hurt so that her unborn child (her fruit) depart from her (in premature birth).

If a man caused a premature birth by fighting he was to be punished.  At the very least he would have to pay a substantial fine, as the Judges determine.  That is if the man's fight caused no death or wounds to mother and/or child.

But if any mischief (death or wounds) followed as a result of the fight, then it was punishable by the Judges -- life for life, eye for eye, hand for hand, foot for foot.  The death of the mother or child was punishable by death.

In other words, even an accidental abortion was punishable by DEATH.

If accidental abortions deserved the death penalty, how much more the deliberate, premeditated murder of unborn (or partially born) children?  Some may argue that this law was Old Testament, applied only to Israel, and does not apply to us now.

The best way to answer that argument is from the Bible.  God doesn't change.  If He hated abortion in the Old Testament, He hates it now too.

“For I am the LORD, I change not.... “   (Malachi 3:6)

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”   (Hebrews 13:8)

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.  For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”  (Matthew 5:17-18)

God asked the murderer Cain, “ ... What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” (Genesis 4:10)  God cursed Cain for the murder of his brother Abel.  Cain is in Hell for all eternity.

The blood of innocent Abel cried to God from the ground.  Does not the blood of more than fifty million innocent, unborn and partially born American children cry to God today?

Our nation is guilty of allowing a bigger Holocaust than Hitler's murder of the Jews.

Today, the most dangerous place in the world to live is not New York, Los Angeles, Jerusalem or Tel Aviv.  It is not Chechnya or Bosnia, Iraq, Syria or Yemen.  Today, the most dangerous place in the world to live is in the mother's womb.  You can be killed there, legally.

When a man was found slain in ancient Israel, an oath of innocence and blood sacrifice was required from the leaders (elders) before God would forgive the land (Deuteronomy 21:1-9).  God will not forgive America for the blood of the unborn.

China requires abortion for mothers who exceed their government quota of children.  God will not forgive the Communist Chinese for the blood of the unborn.

In Russia, abortions are free and legal.  God will not forgive Russia for the blood of innocent babies.  Israel provides free abortions for women soldiers.  God will not forgive Israel for its Holocaust against Jewish unborn children.

According to competent medical doctors, the question is an artificial one.  A doctor works in a crisis to save life and does all that he can for both mother and child.  A doctor is not in the position of God, to decide who should live and who should die.

The same holds true in cases of rape, incest, sick or deformed unborn babies.  Would any reputable doctor kill children (after birth) because they are sick or deformed -- or because they were the result of rape or incest?

If it is OK to kill the unborn in certain cases, what about senile parents?  What about blind people?  What about the bed-ridden, or those confined to wheelchairs?  Maybe we should kill those who use crutches, or those who wear glasses.

Why stop there?  Why not kill those who are deaf, those who use hearing aids, and those who wear false teeth?  Should we move on to those who are too fat or too thin?  How about those who are too dark, too fair, too short, too stupid, too poor?

The reason we should not kill them is because we have neither command nor permission from God to do so. Thus to kill them is to commit murder.

Messiah commands us to “love thy neighbor as thyself”.  Our neighbors include unborn children and those less blessed than we are.

Nowhere in the Holy Bible does God give us permission to take our own life.  It is God who determines the time, place and manner of our death.  For anyone to play God and take their own life is to violate both the First and Sixth Commandments.

To go out of this life as a murderer is to guarantee eternal punishment for the suicide.  “... and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”  (1 John 3:15)

Repentance can only take place in this life.  The sin of suicide (self-murder) cannot be repented of, since the person who committed suicide is no longer in this life.

The suicide may believe that he is ending his problems by ending his life.  But the reality is, he (or she) is just trading his problems for much bigger, eternal problems in Hell.

Tulip Gems is a Calvinistic Baptist web site that honors Jesus Christ and provides a free Hyperinflation Survival Guide.  We offer free Bible Articles on several subjects, including Bible Nutrition , Creation Science versus Evolution Passover , The Great Commission and Tulip Calvinism

Which Bible can we trust? Which Bible is the most accurate? Why KJV only? Read our Which Bible series of articles for answers from both Scripture and history (including a Rebuttal of James White's book, The King James Only Controversy).

We also offer a well-documented Vietnam Veteran Story that illustrates the mercy of God.  The Vietnam Veteran Story, found on our Combat Vet page, comes from published accounts of Vietnam Veterans experiences, as well as this Vietnam Veterans experiences, told first hand.

Concerned about inflation leading to hyperinflation? Some say buy silver and gold coins. Others say it is evil to own silver and gold coins. What does the Bible teach us? Tulip Gems offers an Hyperinflation Survival Guide which provides a Biblical basis for ownership of silver and gold coins as an hedge against the horrors of hyperinflation.  Links to online vendors are also provided.

Will out of control government spending lead to hyperinflation, and possibly to a new world currency? Will a new world currency lead to the Mark of the Beast (666)? Will the Rapture occur before the Tribulation (Pre-Tribulational Rapture) or will the Rapture occur after the Tribulation (Post-Tribulational Rapture)? For Biblical answers, visit our
Mark of the Beast Explained page.

Will America come under nuclear attack? What does the Bible say? For reliable information on what to do in a nuclear attack, read our
Survive Nuclear Attack page. While many Calvinists shy away from Bible prophecy, we don't. For those who want Biblical guidance about the future, check out our Hyperinflation Survival Guide, Mark of the Beast Explained and Survive Nuclear Attack pages. Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke often about the events leading up to His Second Coming. Where our Good Shepherd leads, we may safely follow.

Who is Jesus Christ? Why KJV only? Why Home School your children? Jesus Christ is Lord and the KJV Bible is the Preserved Word of God in English.  Finally, Scripture gives us compelling reasons to Home School our children. One very important reason is to lead them to Our Passover Lamb. We recommend Christ-centered Home Schooling Curriculum.
