THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT AND RACISM

 

 

 

“Thou shalt not kill.”   (Exodus 20:13)

 

“Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.”   (1 John 3:15)

 

“And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation”  (Acts 17:26)

 

 

 

Racism, the belief in the superiority of one race over another, is an unbiblical concept.  Whether it is white racism, black power, or some other ethnocentrism (the world revolves around us) it has no basis in Scripture.

 

Races are arbitrary classifications used by biologists and anthropologists.  A race is usually defined as a variety of species, or sub-species, within a certain species.

 

 

RACE AND EVOLUTION

 

 

In evolutionary terms, race may represent a stage within the evolution of a new species.  In evolutionary thought, different races may vary in their levels of advance over the ancestral species.  Thus, one race may be superior to another.

 

Not all evolutionists are racists.  But the various philosophies that promote racism have all used evolution to justify their racial views.

 

The fair-skinned Aryans who invaded northwestern India 3,500 years ago believed in the evolution of the soul through reincarnation.  They thought they were at a higher level of reincarnation than the indigenous blacks they enslaved.

 

The Aryan gift to India was the cruel caste system.  None could marry, work or socialize outside his caste.  The Hindu word for caste is "varna" and it means "color."

 

The philosophy of Hitler's Nazi party was that the Nordic peoples were superior to Jews, Slavs, and all others.  Blacks were on the bottom of the evolutionary scale.  Hitler's legacy was the extermination of millions of Jews, Gypsies and Serbs.

 

Today's Christian Identity movement (Aryan Nations, Arizona Patriots, Posse Comitatus, etc.) teaches that only white people are descended from Adam and Eve.  It claims non-whites evolved from apes and Jews are children of the Devil.

 

 

 

“RACE” IN THE BIBLE

 

 

The term “race” is not used in the Bible.  All men are members of the human race.  All are descended from Adam, through his descendent, Noah.  In addition to Acts 17:26, quoted above, we can add the following:

 

 

“And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.  These are the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.”   (Genesis 9:18-19)

 

“These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.”   (Genesis 10:32)

 

 

 

GENETIC EVIDENCE FOR ADAM & EVE

 

 

Recent scientific evidence indicates that all human beings alive on earth today appear to be descended from one original woman. The Jan. 11, 1988 issue of NEWSWEEK (Article: The Search for Adam and Eve) states:

 

“Trained in molecular biology, they [scientists] looked at an international assortment of genes and picked up a trail of DNA that led them to a single woman from whom we are all descended.”

 

Attempts to construct a family line for human males have in the past been hindered because of the mixing of both parents' genes in the nucleus of the cell. Now however, that hindrance seems to have been overcome.

 

Scientists have carefully studied a section of the Y chromosome passed only through the male line.  It points back to a common male ancestor for all human beings alive today (Blacks and Asians as well as Whites).

 

Thus, the claim that only white people descend from Adam and Eve is false.  The truth is that all people are descended from Adam and Eve.

 

 

 

CHRISTIANS IN EVERY “RACE”

 

 

“And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation.”  (Revelation 5:9)

 

 

There are some children of God in every “racial” group.  Note the word tongue (language) in Revelation 5:9 (above).  Some of the redeemed come from people speaking Zulu, Swahili, Chinese, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic and Spanish, as well as English and German.

 

You can't always judge a book by its cover.  As God told Samuel, “ ... for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.”   (1 Samuel 16:7)

 

 

 

RACIAL PRIDE

 

Racial pride, like all other forms of pride, is condemned in the Bible.  Our Lord Jesus lists pride as one of the sins that come out of the heart and defile the person (Mark 7:21-23).  The Book of Proverbs contains the following warnings:

 

 

“Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.”  (Proverbs 16:5)

 

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”  (Proverbs 16:18)

 

 

Why is racial pride a sin?  It is sin because no one was ever asked into which racial group he or she would like to be born.

 

“For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?”   (1 Corinthians 4:7)

 

Whatever our skin, eye and hair color (and whatever our mental and/or physical accomplishments) all we are (and all we have) is a GIFT from God.  Therefore, we have no right to be proud, or to boast.

 

 

 

RACISTS AND SATAN

 

 

White racists are murderers in that they hate Jews and non-whites.  Ditto with Black Muslims who believe all whites are “blue-eyed devils” and Jews are “blood suckers.”  Like their spiritual father, Satan, they are both murderers and liars.

 

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.”  (John 8:44)

 

Racists use the lie of evolution to justify their racism.  To be a racist is to be a liar and a murderer.  Racism is a religion of hate and murder.  It is an enormous violation of the Sixth Commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.”   (Exodus 20:13)
