SCRIPTURE IS THE ONLY LEGITIMATE BASIS FOR SCIENCE

 

 

After World War II, the world learned of the cruel use of scientific experiments used by the Nazis on concentration camp inmates.  These brutal atrocities were committed by the pagan followers of Hitler in the name of science.

 

Today, many claim that Christians are trying to force their morality on areas of scientific practice, such as stem cell research, cloning and abortion.  This criticism reveals shallow thinking—that science is somehow above God's Ten Commandments.

 

This is a direct result of the error that believes religion is only a personal preference, rather than the all-embracing worship of the Lord God Almighty.  This faulty thinking is rooted in unbelief and rebellion against God.

 

GOD IS THE SOVEREIGN CREATOR

 

God is the Creator and Sovereign (King) over all His Creation.  He has all wisdom and knowledge.  Therefore, true science only uncovers, by observation and experimentation, what God has already created.  It is not separate from true religion.

 

Science is subject to God's laws of nature.  We are also responsible to God for how we use science.  We are subject to God's moral law as summarized in the Ten Commandments.  It is appointed unto man once to die, and after this, the Judgment.

 

Therefore, on the basis of God's moral law, we are not free to murder unborn infants for any reason whatsoever.  We are not permitted by God to kill innocent life just because the mother doesn't want to go through nine months of pregnancy.

 

We are not allowed to play God and decide who should live and who should die, even in cases of rape, incest, or to save the mother's life.  Nor is an undesired deformity or disability in the unborn child any Biblical reason to take the child's life.

 

The same principles apply to all areas of modern science, including stem cell research, cloning and euthanasia.  Men are required to obey God's moral law, whether or not they agree with it.  Christians have a duty to honor and enforce God's law as public policy.

 

THE BIBLE AND SCIENCE

 

The Bible is not a science textbook. But it never contradicts true science. What it often contradicts are the SPECULATIONS of scientists. Science means knowledge. By definition, it includes only that which we can know by direct observation and experience.

 

The scientific method involves experimental reproduction and verification. Thus science can only deal with the world AS IT NOW EXISTS. Scientific theories, such as the BIG BANG origin of the universe, or the EVOLUTION of man, are mere SPECULATION.

 

They cannot be verified by modern science. For example, if apes evolved into human beings back then, why can it not happen again today? The modern study of genetics confirms the Bible. Species reproduce only after their kind (Genesis 1:21-25).

 

Apes reproduce apes. People reproduce people. This is why many microbiologists reject the theory of evolution based strictly on the study of genetics. In fact, the Bolsheviks, in their zeal to prove evolution, tried mating apes with men.[1]

 

A scientific expedition was sent to Africa in 1925, led by Professor Ivanoff. It was heavily subsidized by the Soviets. Needless to say, it failed. The Soviet press later reported that Ivanoff's steamer, with his female apes, was lost on the Black Sea, on its return voyage.[2]

 

CREATION VERSUS EVOLUTION

 

Modern science is now beginning to discover what Bible believers always knew. Creation is true (God created the heaven and the earth). Evolution is a myth.

 

For example, microbiologists now know through studying mitochondrial DNA that we all descend from the same first woman. Even more recently, they learned through studying male Y-DNA that we all descend from the same first man.

 

The microbiologists who made these discoveries try to explain these finds in evolutionary terms. But it is more accurate to realize that we all descend from Adam and Eve.

The DNA evidence of our descent from the same first man (seen in Y-DNA) and the same first woman (seen in mitochondrial DNA) is just part of the rapidly growing field of Creation Science. Many scientists now reject the theory of evolution based on scientific evidence, regardless of their personal religious beliefs.

 

Therefore, we conclude that the Holy Bible must be advanced as the starting point (or restarting force) for the sciences.  Scripture is the only legitimate basis for science.
