THE SECOND COMMANDMENT & REVELATION 13 (Part 1)

 

 

 

“And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

 

 

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

 

 

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.”  (Revelation 13:13-15)

 

 

 

There is a close parallel between Daniel 3 and Revelation 13.  In both chapters there is an absolute monarch -- a god-king (Moloch) and an IMAGE to be worshipped.

 

 

The two beasts of Revelation 13 are not animals.  They are men.  Both are end-time world leaders.  The first beast rises out of the remains of the Roman Empire.

 

 

His “Babel” kingdom will have elements of Babylon, Media-Persia, Greece and Rome in it.  These four ancient Gentile empires were depicted as a Lion, a Bear, a Leopard and a ten-horned Iron Monster.

 

 

 

DANIEL AND THE “TIMES OF THE GENTILES”

 

 

 

Daniel 7 describes them as the Hebrew Prophet looked into the future.  Daniel saw them in that order.  The kingly Lion is Nebuchadnezzar's Babylon.  The overpowering Bear is Media-Persia.

 

 

The swift Leopard is Alexander's Greece.  The Iron Monster represents Rome.  Nebuchadnezzar had a dream.  He wanted an interpretation from his “wise men.”

 

 

But he REFUSED TO TELL THEM THE DREAM.  He demanded that THEY FIRST TELL HIM THE DREAM.  If they could do that, then he would believe their interpretation (Daniel 2:2-11).

 

 

The wise men (magicians, astrologers, sorcerers, Chaldeans) faced DEATH if they couldn’t tell the king the dream.  Daniel, who was being schooled as a “wise man” prayed to God.

 

 

God gave Daniel BOTH THE DREAM AND THE INTERPRETATION.  It saved Daniel's life.

 

 

 

Nebuchadnezzar had seen in his dream an IMAGE with a head of gold, breasts and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron and feet part iron and part clay.  In his God-given interpretation, Daniel pointed out to the king “thou art the head of gold” (Daniel 2:38).

 

 

The IMAGE represented a succession of Gentile kingdoms (Daniel 2:37-45).  Daniel 2 describes these empires as Nebuchadnezzar saw them (an image of a MAN).

 

 

Daniel 7 describes the same thing as God sees them (WILD BEASTS and an IRON MONSTER).  History confirms Daniel's vision.  The Medes and Persians conquered Babylon.  They in turn were conquered by Alexander's Greece.

 

 

Greece in turn was conquered by Rome.  Rome had a reputation for crushing all resistance with an “IRON HEEL.”

 

 

Each Gentile Empire ruled (for a time) over Jerusalem.  Each succeeded the one before it.  God had shown Daniel the future of the Gentiles -- as they related to God's people, Israel.

 

 

John, looking back in time, sees the four Gentile empires in the reverse order, in Revelation 13:1-2.  From the remains of the Roman Empire rises a system that affects both world religion and world politics.

 

 

The feet of Iron and Clay are related to the head of Gold.  The harlot religion that dominates the revived Roman Empire is called MYSTERY BABYLON (Revelation 17:5) The first beast of Revelation 13, as a KING, is identified with this kingdom.

 

 

 

THE TWO BEASTS OF REVELATION 13

 

 

 

Why are the two end-time leaders of Revelation 13 called beasts?  That is what they are in the sight of God.  Vicious and cruel, they are “brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed.”

 

 

The first beast is a political and military leader.  He will be empowered by Satan.

 

 

“And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.

 

 

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”  (Revelation 13:3-4)

 

 

The second beast is a religious leader, called the False Prophet (Revelation. 16:13, 19:20 and 20:10).  He looks like a Lamb (Messiah) but speaks like a dragon (devil):

 

 

 

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.”  (Revelation 13:11)

 

 

 

SATANIC TRINITY

 

 

 

Both beasts are of the spirit of Antichrist.  Both are in league with Satan (the Dragon).  Here we have the satanic trinity -- the Father (Satan) the Son (False Christ) and the Spirit (False Prophet).

 

 

The first beast is the False Christ.  The second beast is the False Prophet.  It will be an imitation of the true Trinity.  The political-military leader will receive a deadly wound and yet be revived.  It will be a counterfeit resurrection.

 

 

This resurrected False Christ (the Antichrist) will be worshipped as the Saviour of mankind.  The world has been denying the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

 

 

Yet, it will now believe that the Antichrist has conquered death.  He will be a revived leader of a revived Roman Empire.

 

 

 

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”   (2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

 

 

 

It will be a time of PERSECUTION for true believers in Jesus the Messiah.  A time of a New World Order -- a DICTATORSHIP -- inspired by Satan.  It will be a time of Devil worship and humanism -- Babel in revived form.

 

 

 

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

 

 

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”   (Rev. 13:7-8)

 

 

 

ONE WORLD RELIGION

 

 

 

There is a One World Religion coming.  It will be the ecumenical glue that gives legitimacy to the One World Government and Economy.  Pagan Romans who worshipped the Emperor were not narrow-minded.  They had many gods and tolerated a wide range of beliefs.

 

 

Christians were not persecuted because they believed in Jesus Christ.  They were persecuted because they believed in Jesus Christ ALONE and would NOT worship the Emperor, or any other gods.

 

 

They were missionary-minded.  They tried to convert others to Christ.

 

 

Hate laws are now in place in America (and elsewhere) that make it a crime to suggest that anyone is wrong in his religious beliefs.  The Genocide Treaty signed by the USA (and many other nations) makes it a crime to try to convert others to what one considers to be the truth.

 

 

Pope John Paul II embraces ALL religions, while at the same time denouncing Bible-believing (Fundamentalist) Christians.  Numerous apparitions of Mary preach the same message: All religions are basically the same and must come together for peace.

 

 

This counterfeit Mary declares, “Everyone worships God in his own way with peace in our hearts.”  This contradicts the Bible message that Christ is the ONLY WAY to God (John 14:6 and Acts 4:12 and 1 Timothy 2:5).

 

 

Mary's anti-Christian message is laying the foundation for a One World Religion headquartered in Rome.  The Pope will probably be the False Prophet.

 

 

He will call down fire from Heaven (like Elijah of old).  This False Prophet will point the world to the False Christ.  The False Prophet will have an IMAGE of the resurrected False Christ set up (perhaps a statue, or maybe a television image).

 

 

He will give life to this image.  The image will speak.  The Pope will demand that the entire world worship the IMAGE of the Beast.  Those who don't will be killed.  Like Daniel's three Hebrew friends, true Christians will NOT worship this IMAGE.

 

 

Instead, they will remember the SECOND COMMANDMENT (Exodus 20:4-6).

 

 

They will remember that idolaters end up in Hell (Revelation 21:8).  They will fear God, not man, nor devil.

 

 

 

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”   (Revelation 12:11)
